The biggest Polish Water Sports and Recreation Fair
WIND and WATER has ended !

On 11–14 March 2010 the Warsaw EXPO XXI Centre was the place of yet another meeting of water sports enthusiasts and representatives of the business from Poland and abroad. The coming season caused great interest in the offer of the water sports and recreation market. Once again the prestige and the high status of the Warsaw WIND and WATER Fair was confirmed.

This year’s Warsaw WIND and WATER Fair can be considered very successful and record-breaking in many aspects. 405 exhibitors participated in the Fair (including companies from the accompanying sector for anglers – “Na Ryby”) from Poland, Brasil, Germany, Ukraine, Italy, Great Britain, Croatia, Denmark and South Korea. 127 yachts were presented, which is 27% more than last year. An impressive increase was also noted in the number of visitors. The halls of the Warsaw EXPO XXI Centre were bustling with people during the fair. Altogether 34 417 persons visited the WIND and WATER Fair, both from Poland and abroad, which is almost 25% more than in 2009.
This year, for the first time, we invited our exhibitors and visitors to EXPO XXI Centre enlarged by one additional modern hall. This allowed us to significantly increase our exposition capabilities and most of the exhibitors presenting the biggest and most luxurious yachts moved to the new premises. The exhibition and the programme of accompanying events caught the attention of the leading media. The biggest polish TV and radio stations prepared accounts of the event. In total almost 130 reporters were given accreditation.

The exhibitors include Polish and foreign shipyards, companies offering sailing equipment and accessories, motorboat equipment, and safety and rescue gear, as well as tourist, sports and recreation clothing. Organizers of charters, races, training and tourist trips, and the media were also present at the show.

The visitors were very interested in the largest boats presented at the Fair. They formed long queues only to see them from close up: the 15-metre long sailing yacht Delphia 47 from Delphia Yachts and motor boats: the luxurious Azimut offered by Power Boats Poland and Galeon 440 Fly from Galeon shipyard from Gdańsk. The visitors could also see small and medium motor boats and yachts, perfect for sailing the beautiful Polish inland waters. Dobre Jachty, an official representative of Jeanneau, showed four yachts produced in Ostróda: Runabout 755, Cap Camarat 635 DC, Merry Fisher 645 and 655, and Janmor shipyard presented a sailing yacht Janmor 25. This year there were also several displacement boats at the Fair, including a barge by Villa Marine, Calipso 750 from Calipso Yacht, Haber from Yacht Service, and a modern and environment-friendly Nautika 1000 eko houseboat produced by Delphia Yachts from Ostróda, which has an electric motor allowing it to sail even in silence zones. There were also a significant number of pontoons and RIBs (Parker Poland, Sportis or the Ukrainian Alta Trade, Best, Smart and Ponton Bark). The motor industry features equally strongly this year (Taurus Sea Power, Parker Poland, Age Power, Yamaha, Honda, Marco Marine). An electric hovercraft presented at the Fair was a great attraction.

Polish Premières

This year the Fair included many interesting offers, première presentations and novelties on the Polish market. It was a first-time show of Bavaria Sport 28, designed in cooperation with BMW Design Works USA; Regal 2550, with its enrapturing timeless design and the sporty Regal 2300 – both offered by the company Astex Łodzie. Nautiner Yachts presented two new items: the 9-metre long Nautiner 30 Sport and the over 12-metre long Nautiner 38 Classic – a cutter with the properties of both a houseboat and a motor yacht, which allows 6–8 person crew to use it comfortably. The new boat presented by the shipyard Sedna Yachts was a fast sporty tourist yacht Sedna 30. Another première was Laguna 30 – an almost 9-metre long boat, created specifically for the thirtieth anniversary of the Stocznia Jachtowa “Sułkowski”. The shipyard Northman presented the 8.5-metre long Maxus 28, and Stocznia Ustka the 10-metre long racer CYD 3308. The shipyard SEA LIFE presented the new Atlantic Marine Adventure 660 boat – a model designed especially for anglers, and the shipyard Sailor offered Phobos 25. This year ANTILA YACHTS presented something new – ANTILA 27 – a 8.25-metre boat available in two versions: for inland waters and for open seas. There were also many novelties in the engines and drives sector. Marco Marine from Szczecin presented a four-stroke engine Tohatsu, and Pezal – an inverter generator AVR Digital IG770 and an electric outboard motor PF4ETL.
The visitors could also find a broad range of yachting equipment and accessories, as well as diving, canoeing and windsurfing equipment, tourist clothing and publications.

Accompanying events

Meetings, lectures and shows have become a tradition of the WIND and WATER Fair. As in previous years, during the four days of the Fair there were many interesting events for water sports and recreation lovers. The programme included rescue shows, this time presented life in a pool by the best Polish lifeguards. Some interesting documentary films about distant sea and deep-sea journeys, regattas and sport races were shown during the Fair. There were also many attractions for underwater adventurers – many meetings with the best specialist in the diving sector, as well as underwater photography workshops, rebreather workshops and freediving workshops. It was also an opportunity to learn about the offer of diving business from all around Poland, which was incredibly broad this year. This year’s Fair provided an opportunity to plan diving holidays in a dream place anywhere in the world and to take one’s first steps in diving. After registering at the exhibition stand of the “Nurkowanie” Magazine, each visitor had an opportunity to dive in a pool, under the supervision of professional instructors. A Diving Centre operating at the Fair offered shows of a remote-controlled underwater vehicle Mini ROV and a presentation of a decompression chamber of the National Centre of Hyperbaric Medicine. Canoeists from all over Poland, who met at the Fair on Saturday, as every year, took part in numerous meetings and presentations organized specifically for them.

Unique places on camera

This year the visitors saw two special photographic exhibitions. The first, entitled “Bornholm - Perła Bałtyku" (Bornholm, the Gem of the Baltic Sea) was a photographic summary of the expedition of the “Nurkowanie” Magazine team to the most sunny of Baltic islands. The second exhibition was a photographic account from the expedition from the highest mountains to the depths of the sea – “Projekt 9000”.

Waspar.pl

This year, at the exhibition stand of the Web portal Waspar.pl, with a collection of offers from the water sports business, the visitors could use computers in an Internet café. Surfing the pages of WASPAR.pl they could find the latest sales offers of motor and sailing boats, rowing boats, pontoons, jet skis and motors. An additional attraction was an advertisement board displayed in front of the WASPAR.pl stand, where anyone could place a free ad.

“NA RYBY” (Go Fishing)

This year WIND and WATER was accompanied by the 10th Fishing Equipment Fair “NA RYBY” (GO FISHING). All fishing enthusiasts, both advanced and beginning, could find something of interest there: fishing rods, reels, floats, spinning baits, aromatic additions to luring substances, tourist equipment, boats, rubber dinghies, as well as offers of tourist agencies specialising in organizing fishing trips.

Children and youth

Friday was an open day for children and youth. Organized groups of children with tutors had free entry to the Fair. The programme of the Fair included attractions for the youngest water sports lovers. The well known music band “Zejman & Garkumpel” held a family concert entitled “Kolorowy rejs” (“A colourful cruise”). It was a journey full of surprises in search for lands yet undiscovered. With a gusto typical for him, Captain "Koval" told the children how wonderful and full of adventures the life of a sailor is..
